Ehma woke up laying on a cold floor in a Hospital pound. She looked out through the chain gate to see Serenity lying in a stall directly vertical of hers. Serenity hadn't awoken yet. Her chest was moving irregularly and the shot wounds were crusty. Ehma saw a man coming down the isle of stalls with a food bag. Ehma whined impatiently, she hadn't had dog food in a long time since she was 2 months old. There were many dogs in the stalls, each having it's own. Some having sick-looking gashes, others sick. Some were howling. But all of them kept distance from Ehma and Serenity. Serenity lifted her head heavily and moaned. She wouldn't get up. She had her head on the floor and looked up at the humans sadly. Ehma and serenity were spaced 2 stalls away from all the other dogs. The man finally reached Ehma's stall and she pushed her bowl towards the food. The man poured some food in and pushed it back. Ehma waited until the man had moved onto Serenity's stall. Serenity looked away disinterested. A potbellied man, known as a doctor, came into the room. "What's up with 'em two dogs over t'ere?" A younger woman told him: "Looks like both of 'em got into a fight. But the hybrid's got a lot of bullets in, supposively from an MG. Looks like the border's gonna make it. We'd have to remove the hybrid's bullets, or she's not gonna last for long. When should we operate on her, Doc?" The doctor looked at Serenity and raised an eyebrow. "Tomorrow...we'll let her rest a little bit before we do surgery." The nurse looked at the doc. "Is she gonna make it?" "I think she just might barely. She needs to be operated on and needs other treatment.” "What treatment?" the nurse asked curiously. Serenity pricked her ears. She understood Surgery and operate. Serenity whined. "Should we let her and her friend together or would that be bad?!" the nurse asked. "Get the IV going and take her and the border collie to the bigger double stall." the doctor ordered. "Do both need an IV?" the nurse asked getting IVs out of a cabinet. She also took two muzzles for the dogs. "Yeah. Actually give both one, the border collie has some bleeding at the shoulder." The doctor pointed at Ehma, and walked out of the isle. The nurse got the IVs ready and set up. She gave two men the muzzles. They opened the stall doors and put the muzzles on Serenity and Ehma. They carried both over to the checking table to get an IV. Ehma wined as the nurse opened the door to her stall with a leash and muzzle. Serenity whined softly. She had her tail tucked between her legs. She struggled a little bit. The muzzle was uncomfortable, but it was necessary. The nurse shaved a tiny spot of fur on both dogs and cleaned it with special chemicals. Then she took a needle and punctured them there. She hooked up the IVs with the needle and gave the dogs a sedative. Serenity's heart beat normally again. The men carried the dogs over to the double stall and took off the muzzles. Ehma walked into the stall and sat down. Serenity still had her tail tucked in and curled up, shivering. It was no fear shivering, she was having fever chills. Serenity whined. The IV was irritating. As she started to chew on the cord, the nurses put on a muzzle again. The food man came into the stall and filled up two bowls since they were in a stall. Serenity didn't eat. They took off her muzzle again, but she still hadn't touched her food. Serenity dragged herself to a corner and curled up, all tucked in and eyes closed. The nurse looked at Ehma and Serenity. She shook her head and closed the door after she had shut off the lights. Ehma dragged one of the towels at the front of the stall out and laid on it, curling up waiting for Serenity to wake up. Serenity woke up achingly. She yawned. The food man came in. The dogs barked and yowled. He gave every dog something else. He gave Ehma some juicy steak food, but Serenity didn't get anything, cause she was to be sober. Ehma heard the isle door open. A dog came by Ehma and Serenity's stall. A flash of fear and sadness was in the dog's eyes as it looked through the stall's door at the Ehma and Serenity. The dog was put in the stall next to them. Serenity dragged herself to the dog. "What's up?" she said hoarsely. The dog, a Rottie - Shep Mix, gazed up at Serenity. "You're big...what are you in for?" Serenity said: "My friend, Ehma, can explain...I don't want to talk about it..." "Sasha.." Ehma answered gruffly to the dog, Chain. "Sasha doesn't own a gun...does she?" Chain joked, trying to lighten up their spirits. "I was brought here...i don't know why, I think because I got bitten by a dog which had rabies, they checked to see if I had it too..." "Erik? Gosh, I hate them. They are sooo....well....uhm....you know, NOT normal..." Chain said delightfully. Ehma grinned slightly. At least someone had agreed with them. "What's yer name?" Ehma asked the dog. "I'm a Rottie - Shep Mix, my name's Chain, who are you? You two look d**n a lot like a Border and a Wolf." Chain answered. "You've guessed correctly...except serenity is a hybrid.." Ehma sounded tired. "I'm Serenity, a Wolf Hybrid. Glad to meet you." Serenity said, smiling. The nurse came into the isle with a muzzle, leach and a sedative. Serenity whimpered and yelped. Ehma looked at the nurse with sad eyes. The nurse put the muzzle slowly onto Serenity's snout and hooked both dogs up. She gave Serenity the sedative and took them into the OP-room. Ehma looked at Chain as she walked slowly by. Serenity stopped in the door and refused to enter the OP-Room. The nurse dragged her in. Two men lifted Serenity onto the OP-Table and a nurse held Ehma. Serenity snarled as they gave her anaesthesia. Ehma looked at Serenity on the table. She saw pain in her eyes. The doctors cut open parts of Serenity's body. The hooked on a camera on something and pushed it into the cuts. Then, when they could see the bullets, they started taking them out. Serenity whined and shook. The docs gave her another injection of anaesthesia. Serenity slowly calmed down and went unconscious. Ehma gaped at the surgery and threw-up in her mouth...the one thing that made her vomit was open bodies. The doctor pulled out more bullets. They couldn't see anymore bullets from their view. They X-rayed her body. There were two bullets left. One in her lungs and another in her diaphragm. Ehma had been brought back to the double stall and was pacing around nervously. They slowly pulled one out of her diaphragm. Then they looked at the one in her lungs. "Doc, should we take that one out? It's pretty deep..." Erik walked in with Sasha and the new dog, Iko. " Hey honey, Surgery..................Hey I shot that dog! " The OP-Supervisor turned to Erik. "You shot that dog?!" The doctor turned to Erik also. "There were over 8 bullets!" the doctor yelled. A doc said: "Sir...should we take it out now or not?" Ehma could hear the shouts and growls from their stall and clawed on the door. "Sir?" a doc asked the head doctor. "Yes?" the doctor asked. "Should we take out the last bullet or not?" the other doc repeated. "It's her only chance of surviving.." he said sadly. "But it's in too deep. We'd have to rely on luck..." the doc said astonished. "Get the thinnest needle we have..." the nurse ordered. The nurse got a pair of pincers as well. The doctor used the pincers and slowly pulled the bullet out, as it almost slipped. He sighed of relief when it showed through Serenity's flesh and pulled it fully out. The nurse cleaned the cuts and gave Serenity some medicine. She bandaged her up and carried her out into her stall with Ehma. The nurse cleaned the cuts and gave Serenity some medicine. She bandaged her up and carried her out into her stall with Ehma. Ehma barked at Serenity. "Don't worry, sweetie, she'll be up soon..." the nurse said and patted Ehma. "...I hope..." she added lowly. Ehma whimpered at the nurse...she new what 'hope' meant. The nurse talked to the doctor. "How long are we gonna keep them in? Are we gonna leave them run again or give them to a home? THEM is a matter of thought..." "I'm not sure they are behaviour-fit for a home" the doctor said gruffly, taking his blood-stained gloves off. Serenity woke up, whining. She got up and limped to the door and started scratching it.
